Behind the Stream
A personal note on why Smart Sips was built.
I built this app for myself years ago to learn Flutter and because all the other hydration trackers I found on the Play Store were shit or locked behind a paywall or behind full-screen, annoying ads.
It's been my goal to publish it somewhere for years, and this year I finally published it to the Play Store after a final push to make it more friendly for users who aren't me.
No data ever leaves your device (unless you decide to link it to Health Connect). It is built for metric units (the US customary support is... a bit last minute slapdash so I look forward to hearing what is wrong there).
It will have ads eventually if Google approves that (mostly to fund an eventual Apple dev license so I can publish on iOS too), but I made sure the ad placement is tiny, non-obtrusive and NEVER a full-screen ad. Only ever banners. And a minimal IAP permanently removes ads and unlocks the experimental smart reminders feature.
